About

Athina Pappa was born and raised in Thessaloniki Greece and has completed studies in architecture (Democritus University of Thrace, Greece) and illustration (MA Birmingham City University, UK). Her artistry explores the themes of human-nature relationship, female empowerment and symbolism. She often references pop culture as well as elements of Greek and other cultures. She describes her style as dream pop.

Athina’s work has been exhibited in the UK, Spain, Australia, the US and in the Teloglion Foundation of Art and the MOMus–Experimental Center for the Arts among other spaces in Greece. It has been published in a broad range of mediums from silk scarves, zines and wine labels to murals, music album covers, posters and more. She was featured in Pictoria Vol.2 and Vol.3 ‘the best contemporary illustrators worldwide’ (capsules books, Australia, 2018-2019). Athina received an honorable mention  in the A’ Design Awards (Milan, Italy, 2019) for her logo of the Estrella brunch restaurant and a Certificate of Artistic Achievement from the Luxembourg Art Prize organization for high artistic quality for the years 2020 and 2021. Clients also include natural wines winemaker Domaine Ligas and silk scarf fashion brand Emmanuelle silk.

Athina lives and works between Thessaloniki and Athens while her cat Kiana thoroughly oversees all of her projects. She loves practising ballet, thrifting vintage fashion and eating veggie burgers.
